Seaside Celebrates America

The Seaside Independence Day celebration is expected to be a fabulous fun-filled day. Start the morning at the block party from 9 a.m. until noon in Central Square, where you can enjoy music, food and all things patriotic.

The REP Theatre returns with their beloved performance of “The Complete History of America (abridged) starring REP actors Brook Stetler and Danie Moser.

Face painting artists will be on hand to help you and the kids transform into a tiger, butterfly, fairy or anything you can dream of. Be on the lookout for the smartly-dressed Uncle Sam, Seaside’s talented stilt-walker. Marvel at his balance, agility and grace.

New this year, the Emerald Coast Theater Company performs to the delight of all patriots.

Bring your bike and get creative during the bike decorating contest. Shiny red, white and blue streamers, pinwheels and pompoms are courtesy of Seaside. Toddler rides a tricycle decorated with red, white, and blue streamers and an American flag during a festive parade.

Hot dog lovers should save their appetites for the always entertaining hot dog eating contest. See who can devour the most dogs. The contest has two rounds, one for ages 12 and under, and one for ages 13 and older.

In the evening, pick a spot on the Seaside Amphitheater lawn for a symphonic experience with Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, led by music and artistic director Demetrius Fuller.

The day’s events come to a dramatic end in a patriotic boom of fireworks in the sky after sunset with the Seaside Fireworks Spectacular.
