Perhaps you’ve been playing pickleball with your family for ages – or maybe the sport is new to you. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or brand new to the paddle sport, here’s what to know – and most importantly, what to wear when you hit the court.

Pickleball is a mix of traditional tennis and badminton so you’ll want to style yourself accordingly. It’s not all about tennis whites. Instead, feel free to have fun with your style while you’re on the court.

There are three pickleball courts in Seaside open for play. You can make reservations through the Seaside Tennis Pro Shop. Just call (850) 231-2214 to book your court in advance. And don’t worry – court rentals include complimentary equipment, so you won’t have to bring your own paddle with you.

Rental guests pay $48 per hour and walk-ins put down $50 per hour to play. And if you’re not quite sure about the sport yet, you can always join the Intro to Pickleball Clinic, which is offered on Monday at 10 a.m. There are also pickleball private lessons given by tennis pro Tracy Townsend available by appointment.

Good shoes and high quality paddles will make your pickleball experience even better and are the most important gear you can invest in. You can also procure quality pickleballs online.

You’ll want comfortable shoes and shorts or leggings – and you might even want to try out an exercise dress. Make sure to keep a water bottle handy.

And if you really want to get into the spirit (and take envy-inducing Instagram photos) consider heading to Cabana by The SEASIDE Style® for a pickleball-themed ensemble.
