Meet SEASIDE®’s New Leadership

Seaside Community Development Corp. Welcomes Kevin Boyle as General Manager

By Margaret Abrams

Kevin Boyle was recently named as the general manager of Seaside Community Development Corp. (SCDC). But for many locals and even visitors, he was already a familiar face.

Kevin worked in Seaside for many years. It’s possible you saw him onstage with The REP Theatre, or as the emcee at the annual Halloweener Derby. Behind the scenes, Kevin is extremely involved in the community, working with nonprofits like Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, Food For Thought Outreach and the Seaside Neighborhood School Foundation.

He came to Seaside after graduating from Florida State University to work as a stand-up and improv comedian at The Seaside Repertory Theatre,  now called The REP Theatre. He had never even heard of Seaside before that first visit.

Kevin went on to work with the director of events, a job he later took over in 2014. “There are so many events over the years which had a profound impact on me,” Kevin tells The Seaside Times. “I think of all of the families making memories together, watching the fireworks or the symphony or running across the amphitheater lawn gathering eggs on Easter. It was such a humbling experience to play a part in creating those memories and making sure our guests had the best vacation experience.”

One of his favorites was the Seaside Farmers Market, especially because of its rich history, as the town’s co-founder Daryl Davis originally started it as a way to attract people to the area. Now, it’s always abuzz with activity. Vendors drive from all over to sell everything from honey soaps to kombucha. “We’ve created a community of vendors with amazing, homemade and locally sourced offerings,” Kevin says.“One of my favorite moments was seeing one of our vendors, Gyro Hero, become an Airstream merchant and create a business that offers delicious food and is owned by a wonderful family that put in so much work to get there,” Kevin can often be found keeping tabs on things with his own family, as they walk around the market each week.

The Santa Rosa Beach local stayed in that role until 2021, when he became the director of guest services and tenant relations, and then worked as a consultant for companies including SCDC and the Seaside Associated Stores, working with them on leadership and communication training.

Now, he’s general manager of SCDC, which he described as very humbling, personally.

“Having the chance to be a part of this incredible town and company is really a dream come true,” Kevin says. “Following in the footsteps of my predecessor, Pam Avera, and continuing to advocate for the vision of the Davis family are responsibilities I take very seriously.”

It’s also the chance to work with the same team he’s been working with for many years and is incredibly close with. You’ll often find Kevin checking in with everyone from the Airstream vendors to the marketing team, as he always has his pulse on everything happening in town.

“I absolutely love the team we have in place at SCDC. It is a group of very talented and dedicated individuals who all share the same passion for Seaside,” Kevin raves. “I am excited to work closely with the leadership team at The SEASIDE Style®, our merchants, homeowners and community partners. More than anything, I am looking forward to ensuring that everyone who visits our town creates meaningful and lasting memories.”
