Saying “I Do” in Seaside: A full circle moment for one bride
Megan Meinecke and Jackson Miller met when they lived in the same dorm freshman year at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. They were introduced by a mutual friend who also lived in the dorm. The rest is history.
Megan’s mom first went to Seaside as a babysitter when she was in college, and dreamed of taking her future family back one day – sparking a family tradition. “Our family took our first summer vacation to Seaside in 1999, when I was only one, and we haven’t missed a summer since,” Megan says.
The family has been vacationing at their beach house, named Blessings by the Sea, “which so perfectly describes the joy it has brought to our family,” Megan says.
After visiting the town for so many years, getting married in Seaside was truly a full-circle moment. “I saw my first Seaside wedding when I was 5-years-old,” Megan says. “And ever since then, I dreamed of having my own.”
The couple had their rehearsal dinner at Daytrader Tiki Bar, the buzzy new venue’s first private event. Megan’s also an avid reader who adores Sundog Books, so for their seating chart, she had custom acrylic bookmarks made for each guest with their wedding flowers.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds took sunset photos and got a few sweet snapshots inside Sundog.
That wasn’t the only tribute to her favorite town. “I joke that I never miss a sunset or a morning muffin from Modica Market,” she adds. “So we hosted a goodbye brunch there on Sunday morning. It was so special to share so much of this town with our loved ones.”
