Pickleball Bachelorette Parties
What does pickleball have in common with weddings? Bachelorette parties! It’s a new phenomenon that has emerged in Seaside. In my 24 years here, I’ve seen numerous parties, gatherings and events, and I hope the bachelorette trips are here to stay. From the fun I’ve seen them having, I think it is.
Most of you are aware of the abundance of Seaside wedding venues and events. The Chapel at Seaside is one of the most beautiful venues in the world. Ruskin Park, which has hosted an unimaginable number of wedding parties, is simply spectacular. Then, the white sand and the emerald waters top it all off as one of the best wedding locations anywhere. My favorite spot, Bud & Alley’s Waterront Restsaurant & Rooftop Bar, seems to be a big watering hole for these groups.
The Seaside pickleball courts have become one the most popular pre-wedding spots in the area with bachelorette and wedding parties. Family, friends, and even brides and grooms, have also been spotted on the pickleball courts during wedding weekends.
Pickleball is user friendly for these types of bonding activities. We can get large groups together in a closed space and run clinics or round robins for all levels of players. The games can easily be modified to accommodate a paddle in one hand and a mimosa in the other. And the variety of expertise doesn’t matter, because fun is had by all – especially the ones with the mimosas.
I’ve run tennis events for years for bachelorette groups. They always were experienced or at least recreational players, though. The simplicity of pickleball, however, allows all people to play. Scoring can be modified. Game length can be modified. Teams can easily and quickly be changed out. And little or no movement is required. We have the paddles and the balls here so groups aren’t even required to bring anything. And the photo opportunities are varied and vast.
So, for your next wedding event, remember to give me a call and get your group set up. I haven’t done a bachelor’s party yet, but that’s got to be a good option.
