Giving a job to young people is an important role of small business, say Bill and Heavenly Dawson, owners of five eateries in Seaside. The Dawson Group of stores has been doing this practice for 30 years in Seaside. A faith-based organization, Kaleo played an important role in the Dawson’s businesses during summer. Kaleo college students from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas came to Seaside to seek a job as part of their training to become productive young adults, while strengthening their faith through the Kaleo program. At the same time, they enjoy a working, learning vacation at the beach. Heavenly and Bill Dawson are shown here with the 2017 group of guys and gals who learned the food business and served Seaside guests. Their summer was a big success.
