Chelsey Seawell Armstrong, owner and designer of the new layette clothing collection Helen & Harold’s Beautiful Beginnings, is introducing the collection at Newbill Collection By The Sea. Celebrating its 21st year as the longest continuously operating gallery in Seaside, Newbill is located in Ruskin Place Artist Colony. Armstrong will feature her layette collections through Jan. 2.
Helen & Harold’s Beautiful Beginnings is an exclusive organic cotton infant clothing and accessories line crafted with exquisite detail and a touch of love in every garment. Exceptionally soft and 100 percent organic, Peruvian pima cotton and hand-stitched smocking, embroidery and signature lace are combined to create a special layette collection. Helen & Harold’s organic cotton is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S), which is recognized as the leading textile processing standard of organic fibers worldwide; therefore ensuring the production of the most environmentally friendly organic baby clothing, free of harmful toxins and synthetic fertilizers.
Helen & Harold’s was founded by two sisters, Chelsey Seawell Armstrong and Chaney Seawell McGehee, daughters of well known Seaside permanent resident Glenn Seawell. Armstrong, an interior designer and McGehee, a clothing fashion designer, are both renowned in the design industry for their graceful designs and sense of style. Now in their newest venture, the two have collaborated using their shared knowledge and expertise to create Helen & Harold’s.
The clothing collection is inspired by Armstrong’s and McGehee’s great grandmother, Edna Adelaide, who lovingly hand-stitched clothing and accessories for her children, Helen and Harold. The sisters strive to continue this tradition with their collection of heirloom quality clothing. “After years of sketching, planning and designing, we are proud and excited to bring the timeless heirlooms of our great grandmother to today’s market,” says Armstrong. “My sister, who is a new mother, and as an expectant mother myself, we are passionate about the quality and hand-stitched details of our environmentally friendly organic baby clothing.”
According to Annette Newbill Trujillo, gallery owner, “We are pleased to host this trunk show. There are many reasons Seaside is a perfect place for launching this heirloom quality organic cotton infant clothing and accessories line, not only because these two young women are second generation Seasiders. Seaside is a frequent destination for expectant parents to come for rest and recreation before the arrival of a baby and our customer profile is one that is truly sensitive to environmental issues. We are in an age where consumers are eating more organic foods, sleeping on organic linens and what is more important than protecting a new baby’s skin with organic clothing.”
The trunk show collection will include daygowns, rompers, bundle sacks, receiving blankets, burp clothes, bibs, caps, booties, gift baskets and an heirloom quality christening gown with bonnet. In addition to the special feature at the Newbill Collection By The Sea, Helen & Harold’s is also available online at helenandharolds.com and in select stores across the country.
