Don’t Get Burnt, Be Well Read

Posted on Jul 01, 2018 in Sundog Books , Summer Beach Reads , July–August 2018

Summer is my favorite time to search out new reads to devour. A sunny day at the beach with a book and a chair or curled up on a rainy day on the couch, a book is always a faithful companion.

Before you start your vacation, be sure to stop by Sundog Books for their recommendations on all the best-selling ones. In addition to Southern favorites, like the Mary Kay Andrews books (of which they have signed hard cover copies), they recommend a few more beach reads to add to your stack.

One of their top considerations for readers is the riveting non-fiction selection, “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” by David Grann. This genre-busting, 400-page story reads like a page-turning thriller and has broad appeal to all readers.

If you are looking for good, fast-paced book with a taste of Fatal Attraction, then you might consider picking up “Lies You Never Told Me” by Jennifer Donaldson. This young adult novel has strong crossover appeal to adult women and teens alike who were fans of “We Were Liars.” At $18.99 for the 336-page hard cover, it is an easy, entertaining and perfect read for the summer.

For folks looking for an out-of-the-box read, Sundog Books recommends “Meddling Kids” by Edgar Cantero. With tastes of horror writer Lovecraft and a dash of Scooby-Doo, this fictional read offers horror, love, friendships, and many-tentacled, interdimensional demon spawn.

Any one of these reads can be picked up for under $20 at Sundog Books. And if you need some for the road, they are happy to ship. Call Sundog Books at (850) 231-5481.
