The Emerald Coast during the summer months is a kid’s dream, with plenty of sun and sand to go around. In Seaside, the young beachgoer’s summer can be even more exciting with the possibility of attending Camp Broadway. Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) is back for a third summer, giving students in grades 3-10 the chance to spend a week fine-tuning their theatrical, musical and dancing skills and having the time of their lives.

ECTC’s producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher brings tremendous theatrical experience and knowledge to the table, having performed, produced and directed in shows throughout the country. The foundation of the theater company in 2012 was a welcome addition of culture and true theater to the Emerald Coast, and recent shows, such as “Art” and “A Dickens’ Christmas,” have performed to sold-out houses. The group also regularly offers theater programming for young audiences, improvisational comedy and educational theater, as well as engaging programming and learning opportunities for audiences with special needs.

Fisher, who leads the educational programming of ECTC and will be instructing during Camp Broadway, says, “We are so grateful to Seaside Neighborhood School for hosting us for a third summer. Camp Broadway is the perfect chance for children to give theater arts a try without a huge commitment and it is great fun for those that already have a love of singing, dancing and acting.”

Camp Broadway is presented via a partnership between ECTC and the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, and has received continued praise from camp-goers and parents alike. Michelle, from Santa Rosa Beach, says of the ECTC summer camp: “By far, one of the best things we did all summer long. Can’t wait to do it again!” And Otmar, from Destin, says, “What a wonderful display of young talent. It impressed me to see how artfully it was produced, and all in just one week.”

The camp runs each day from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from July 6-10 and will be held at the Seaside Neighborhood School. To register, or to find out more about educational and theatrical opportunities from this blossoming theater group, visit emeraldcoasttheatre.org
